We’ve had water in our basement countless times since we moved in. This service sent a contractor who spent a few days installing a waterproofing system and bam - no issues since! Thank you so much!

FOUNDATIONS WE SERVICE

RECENT SUCCESSFUL REPAIR JOBS COMPLETED

  • Thank you Regional Foundation Repair! They helped set us up with an experienced foundation contractor for last minute. Got a quick assessment and then after the technician (can't remember his name) explained the entire process to us in a way that felt very simple and straight forward. He was very honest and transparent with the repairs we needed. We found their estimate to be very reasonable compared to the other quotes we received. When the crew came out, they were very professional and explained their progress throughout the job. As expected, they cleaned up everything at the end of the day and the tech caught up with me to make sure the work was completed to my satisfaction. We had a lot of questions and they were very responsive. We've had an excellent experience with RegionalFoundationRepair from start to finish!

  • After a horrible experience on Yelp, I found this site and within minutes had quotes in hand. I scheduled my appointment and within 2 weeks the job was done below what I budgeted for. No more wet basement. Love it. Will recommend to friends and family.
    - Suja K.
  • Love these guys. They are professional, punctual, and saved me $1,000's explaining exactly what my foundation problem was and what I needed. Other companies were trying to sell me on the bells and whistles pushing services I didn't really need. These guys were transparent and the pricing for the job came out about $500 less then the other quotes.

  • Foundation Inspection

    Date of Request: 05/21/2023

    Location: Sparks, NV

Description: Our neighbors have a very large Mulberry Tree about 50' in height sitting near our property line. The root system has spread into our property and has: 1. Destroyed the concrete work of our patio; 2. Invaded the area under the floor of the garage; 3. Has caused the threshold of the side entry door of the garage to be uplifted and is causing the door to jam; 4. Is treatening to invade the main foundation of the house; and 5. May be displacing an area of the house resulting in a crack in the wall of the family room. The neighbors deny the tree is causing any damage to the house, in spite of the fact that the roots of the tree are visible on the surface of the ground. We need to have an independent, non biased inspection done to evaluate the damage being caused by the tree's root system. Can you provide this service for us? Do you use GPR (ground penetrating radar) to draw out a map the root system? Thank you for your assistance.

  • Does Foundation Movement Affect Reno?

Reno is the second largest city in the state of Nevada. However, there are far more homes in the Reno area as opposed to Las Vegas, and with all those homes out there in the desert plains, there exists the extreme potential for foundation problems. Reno is another boomtown that has seen exponential growth over the past 20 years, and its home construction industry was busy pumping out homes as fast as they could be built. There were several fortunes made by the contracting companies that bought desert land cheap and converted it into a residential oasis practically overnight. That is precisely where we begin to find foundation movement problems here in the greater Reno area.

Any time there are huge booms in home construction, the first sign of rushing the job will appear in the foundation, as the soil does not get properly packed before the foundation is constructed. Then, there is the issue of the soil itself. Reno is in the desert. Desert soil is best classified as a high clay content that primarily consists of sand. This type of soil is the leading cause of expansive soil, which expands and contracts with any water that is present. But there is no water in the desert, right? Well, partially true. However, whatever moisture that does come in the form of rain in Reno is quickly absorbed by the expansive soil, and when the rain event is over, the soil retains the water. These factors are all enemies of foundations and leading causes of foundation movement problems here in the greater Reno area.

  • What Causes Foundation Problems in Reno?

We pretty much just summed up the primary problem that causes foundation problems in Reno. The soil is not a very healthy soil where a foundation is concerned, the expansive qualities along with the poor compaction ratio, and the ability to retain water are the three leading candidates for foundation problems in the greater Reno area. These lead to leaking foundations, shifting soils, and unstable structures.

Another contributing factor to foundation problems in Reno is the simple fact of Reno’s geographical location in regard to the seismic activity from the San Andreas Fault which is rather close by in proximity to Reno. It doesn’t take much of a tremor to begin foundation problems or to take a foundation that is already in trouble and push it to its limits and beyond. Earthquake activity can further exacerbate your foundation’s problems literally in the blink of an eye. If a foundation is already showing signs of problems, and then that same foundation goes through a seismic event, don’t expect anything pretty about it. Earthquakes will expose foundations’ weak spots, and then it will gradually worsen them.

  • What Are the Signs of Basement Foundation Damage in Reno?

Most homes in the greater Reno area are built on concrete slabs. Even if your home has a full or partial basement, the floor of the basement is the floor of your foundation, and it is a concrete slab. When foundation problems begin to surface, it has probably already been present in your foundation for some time, and your best course of action is to get our foundation repair professionals on the scene as quickly as possible.

The warning signs of your Reno foundation problems will appear in the following ways:

    • Horizontal cracks in basement walls
    • Vertical Cracks in basement walls
    • Stair stepped cracks in basement walls
    • Cracks on the surface of your slab
    • Windows that will not close or slide easily on their tracks
    • Doors that will not close and drag along the floor
    • Standing water on the floor of your basement

When you see standing water on your basement floor, your foundation is in need of repair very badly. Water will attack your foundation from the outside and work its way inside through tiny air pockets that had formed when the foundation was poured. These tiny bubbles form then burst, leaving small voids. When the water outside begins to find these voids, it is like a tiny vein in which the water will eventually work its way through. This is when your basement foundation is trying to tell you that something is wrong, and it’s about to get ugly fast.

We have our very own ‘in-house’ structural engineer that we include as an integral piece of our foundation repair packages. If you’re experiencing foundation damage, you might want to consider hiring our structural engineer for an analysis of your foundation problem. This will ensure your home’s safety and the efficacy of the repair we carry out.

There are many homes bought and sold in the greater Reno area. If this sounds like a situation you are in, whether you’re a buyer or a seller, you might want to include the report of our certified structural engineers for the foundation of the home in question as part of the closing procedure on the home. Foundation repairs are not cheap. A structural engineer report that says your foundation is safe and sound is worth its weight in gold! • Does the Soil in Reno Affect Your Foundation?

Yes, the soil does affect your Reno foundation in many ways. We first mentioned that there are issues concerning the soil and its inability to properly drain any runoff water, which of course, can lead to foundation problems. Expansive soil that both expands and contracts due to water content and a soil composition of mainly sand and clay is the leading contributor to foundation issues in the greater Reno area.

This area receives so little rainfall on an annual basis that when rain does fall, it falls hard and pools fast. These standing pools of water next to your foundation will eat away at the foundation, and soon you would begin to notice the intrusion of water should your home have either a full or half basement. These are all leading contributors to foundation damage, and the only way you can determine the extent of the damage is by securing the services of a dedicated team of foundation repair experts like the ones here at Regional Foundation Repair.

When you first notice these or any other signs that tend to be affecting your Reno foundation, the only way to tell what is normal and what is permanent damage is by the trained eye of our foundation repair expert.
